GOLD RUSH
162 Meters Daily Drilling Record
By the nature of the job, drilling conditions and dynamics differs from site to site. That is why every project may require specific needs and solutions. Ore Dynamics continously invent and invest in diamond drilling tool production to provide lowest possible cost per meter for exploration drilling industry.
Our customer working on a gold exploration drilling project in Turkey, wanted to increase their overall daily drilling efficiency. Project with target hole depths of average 370 meters; our customer had to change 4-5 bits per hole due to an early bit wear and gauge loss issues.
Needs & Challenges
Rock Types : Pyllite, Rhyolite, Andesite and partly Quartz
Formation : Mostly solid rock with partly broken zones
Our customer was using H size bit with an matrix height of 12mm. Although selected matrix was suitable for the hole they are dealing with, the performance was unsatisfactory. This was resulting a frequent rod pull which had a direct impact on the daily costs. They were looking for a solution which minimizes round trips and increase daily drilling performance.
Solution & Results
Offered Product(s): HWL LEGEND 7 – 13mm matrix height diamond drilling bit
Our team offerred H size Legend 7 diamond drilling bit with a matrix height of 13mm. As a result of 5 back to back field tests, our customer achieved 221 meters of average bit life and 73 to 81 meters of drilling per shift.
Results were beyond the expectations of our customer. Drillers began to change 1 bit per hole rather than 4-5 bits, which drastically increased their productivity due to less round trips, as well as improved drilling economics.
Performance Difference:
Up to %154 Increase in average bit life
Up to %268 increase in daily productivity
Effects of Not Choosing The Right Tool
As stated above; every drilling project has its own needs, objectives and dynamics. Choosing the right drilling tool is essential to maximize drilling efficiency. Consequences of not choosing the right tool; more round trips (especially drilling in deep holes) due to the early bit wear which increases time loss, injury risks and wear out of equipments and machinery. These are all effecting the overall drilling economics in a negative way, by increasing labour, material, fuel, equipment and machinery maintenance costs. On the other hand, failing to meet the project objectives causes bad company reputation.
